Rehearsal Videos

Friday, April 24th, 2009

For our rehearsal yesterday evening at Studio 91 I decided to take the trusty camcorder with me to get a couple of vids of the new song’s that we’ve been working on. (Since nobody want’s to come and hear us rehearse)

The first is titled “Mechanical Butterfly” and its kind of got that epic feel about it.  There are a few minor fuckups, including myself but thats mainly because there are a few points at which I completely adlib.

The second is called “Aisle 6″ and the idea for this song came whilst we were on a break thinking of ideas, when I happened to say “We need a hook” and Sian replied “They’re down aisle 6….”  Its truely strange where some song ideas come from.  This song is a little difficult to make out because of the poor sound quality of my camcorder and the loudness of the cymbals.

Neither of these songs has a real ending, which just kinda stop and make up the ending each time :P

Please have a watch/listen and let us know any feedback that you may have.

Suggested Listening

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

We’ve all been there right, you go to your CD/mp3 library to pick something to listen to and you realise you’ve listened to them all a million times already and you really fancy finding something new to listen to.

If like me you and your friends/band members all have similar tastes in music and your cd/mp3 collection is so similar they could be called twins so their no help to you.  I suppose you could listen to the radio but that doesn’t help you find some of the great bands that are not so radio friendly.

Luckily your not alone some others marek gibney faced a similar problem and came up with Gnoosic.

Gnoosic

It’s a simple concept really you provide the site with 3 bands that you already know and like and it will go through and suggest other bands that you may like, and then for each one you select whether you like, dislike or do not know them.  Then when you’ve done this for all the suggestions you are taken to a summary so that you can research the suggested bands.

The greatest strength of this system is that the more people that use it, the more accurate it becomes as it begins to build relationships between the suggested bands and whether people like or dislike them, essentially learning from peoples tastes.

The system has also been employed for books (Gnooks) and movies (Gnovies)

Ben has a new Axe!

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

We are all eagerly awaiting our next rehearsal session so that we can rock our socks off like we’ve never rocked our socks off before.

Unfortuantly due to other commitments we were not able to all get together and practice last week but this week should more than make up for it as Ben has gone a purchased himself a nice new axe.  He is now the proud owner of an Epiphone Les Paul Custom.

I’ve not heard it yet but I’m assured its amazing and lets face it, its got to be better than the Ibanez he was playing before :)

Also watch this space as fingers crossed we will be going into Studio 91 in the very near future to record our very first demo (With a proper studio tech).

Website Design Finalised…. Almost

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Ok I think I’ve finally settled on the design for the website, after coming up with a new band logo the whole thing needed redoing.

So hopefully you’ll see the nice spanking design with the funky handwritten titles etc.  This are not images they are flash files that are generated on the fly using javascript.  If anyone is interested in doing this I suggest you look at sIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement) it really is fantastic.

So apart from small updates to the layout every now and then this should be it, please let me know if you have any issues with any parts of the site.
